Commuter Rail: Yuma-West (UPRR) Commuter Rail Planning | Commuter Rail Strategic Plan | Commuter Rail System Study Commuter Rail: Grand Avenue (BNSF) | Commuter Rail: Yuma-West (UPRR) | Commuter Rail Stakeholders The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility of implementing commuter rail service between Phoenix and Buckeye/Arlington, Arizona, a distance of approximately 45 miles. Further analysis will study a potential extension of service from downtown Phoenix east along the 10-mile UPRR mainline corridor to a connection with Sky Harbor Airport near 38th-44th St. and to downtown Tempe. The final product will be a Corridor Development Plan that will describe the elements necessary to successfully implement commuter rail transit service in the Yuma-West Corridor. This corridor development plan will include a review of existing documentation, ongoing public involvement, an inventory of the existing Union Pacific Railroad rail line, development of a conceptual commuter rail operating plan, identification of infrastructure improvements necessary for the implementation of commuter rail service, development of capital cost estimates, and the development of annual operating cost estimates for commuter rail service. |
