Regional Transportation Plan (RTP)
The new RTP that is being developed is a major planning initiative that will result in a broad vision for the regional transportation system to accommodate the growth expected over the next several decades. It will provide a new policy framework to guide regional transportation investments and establish performance measures for regional transportation facilities and services that will allow us to better monitor and improve the system in the future. Also, it will identify and prioritize specific transportation facilities needed to keep up with the increasing travel demands in the region.

Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP)
The Long Range Transportation Plan which is updated annually, identifies specific transportation facilities and services to be constructed or provided in the next twenty years. The LRTP is fiscally constrained, and includes only projects for which funding is currently available or reasonably expected. Following completion of the RTP, the LRTP will be revised to reflect the results of that major planning initiative and its new priority list of projects.

Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)
This is a five year schedule of specific projects to be constructed across the region. Projects for the 2003-2007 TIP are currently being accepted.

Traffic Data, Forecasts and Modeling
To better plan for future transportation needs, MAG collects and analyzes data to provide forecasts using sophisticated computer modeling.
